Apple Mountain Golf Club is the Core of the Holiday Inn Club Vacation Georgia Resort
By Dave Daubert
Set in the lovely foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the town of Clarkesville, Georgia, Apple Mountain Resort & Golf Club is the only Peach State member of the ever-growing Holiday Inn Vacation Club offerings. Holiday Inn Vacation Club currently has 28 locations to enjoy various regions of the country in fine accommodations with a fist-full of amenities and activities at the resorts as well as the area surrounding the destinations.
Apple Mountain is an 'Outdoor Lover's Paradise' with four great seasons just 90 miles north of Atlanta. Activities include horse back riding, eco-tours, hiking plus court sports basketball, volleyball and tennis. For the younger visitors there is an arcade, tetherball, shuffleboard and horseshoes. There is an activity center, mini movie theatre, fitness area with sauna, and an outdoor swimming pool. Pretty much something for everyone. The accommodations at Apple Mountain are all two-bedroom condos nicely appointed and very comfortable with great vistas to enjoy from the patios. The Bavarian village of Helen is just a short ride away, and the beautiful Georgia State Parks of Tallulah Gorge, Unicoi and Moccasin Creek are less than a half-hour away.
Then there is the different forms of golf: For the young and old alike there is an 18-hole mini golf course where families can enjoy a friendly match. For a little more activity, there is an 18 hole disc golf course where those with frisbee skills can match up against each other. Finally, the 18 hole Apple Mountain Golf Club with its rolling hills and grand vistas of the mountains is surely a pleasure to play.
Designed by Phllip Ballard in 1994, the golf course measures 6,227 yards from the longest tees with four sets to make the game a fun experience for every ability. There is a well-stocked golf pro shop for your shopping pleasure and lessons for the newbies as well as seasoned golfers desiring a fix to their game. Wilson Master Club-fitter Chad Fields is available for the much needed tweak or new club. The course receives rave reviews from players wanting a little more laid back round away from the hustle and bustle of metro-mess Atlanta with just flora and fauna surrounding the golf course.
Brown Golf Management with its 27 course portfolio reaching 7 states has taken on the challenge of matching the quality of the resort with its golf facility. In Central Florida, Brown successfully manages the Orange Lake Holiday Inn Vacation Club Resort near Disneyworld that has four golf courses including two championship layouts by Arnold Palmer and Mike Dasher- The Legends & The Reserve.
